How to: Pattern vs Reality 10: Crochet Goblin

When I first got into crochet, I bought two books of patterns early on to aspire to once I moved beyond the Woobles. The first I tackled was Unicorns, Dragons, and Fantasy Amigurumi. If you’re just getting started, I recommend the book. It has a lot of cute options with a variety of skill levels. I did the Pegasus, then the Lochness Monster (this one I failed and gave up on), the Goblin, and the Reindeer. You can get the crochet goblin pattern from the book, or directly from the designer, Hello Yellow Yarn.

Difficulty: Beginner+. This is a good early project. To be honest, especially after doing the Pegasus, I got a little bored with it because it’s mostly single crochet and I’m not that into goblins. However, if you love goblins and you’re still learning, this is good practice.

Stitches Used: Single Crochet, Increase, Decrease, Front Loop Only, Double Crochet
Time Taken: 20ish hours

I didn’t really like the eyebrows, mouth, or warts as much, so I left those off. Otherwise, it was a fairly easy time, and the bag was cute. This really is a great beginner amigurumi project. In the photos, the author has hers standing up, and mine definitely doesn’t. He’s a little top-heavy, so his head kind of droops.

Tips:

Honestly, the instructions are fairly straightforward, so I have nothing to add.
