There are two different types of methods for doing a “decrease” stitch, which is also often called a sc2tog. Pattern writers are rarely clear about which of these two methods you’re supposed to use, but the invisible decrease stitch is favored for amigurumi because it can decrease the appearance of holes in your work that can sometimes happen when you do the ‘normal’ version.
For the invisible decrease stitch, you:
- Insert your hook into the Front Loop Only of the stitch
- Insert your hook into the Front Loop Only of the next stitch
- Yarn Over
- Pull the yarn through the first two loops on the hook
- Yarn over
- Pull the yarn through the remaining two loops on the hook
