You must be careful if you decide to mix and match yarns from different brands, even if they are of the same weight. I decided to try to see what would happen if I used my tan yarn from one brand and scoop yarn from another (both worsted), and it created this ugly disaster:
The proportions were all wrong. I post it so that you can learn from my experiment.
I redid it so both the yarn and cone were in the same yarn brand (Caron Simply Soft) and it was much better.
The designer also offers the option to crochet multi-flavored ice cream scoops, but it seemed to involve a lot of color changes, making that variation an advanced crochet project instead for those seeking a challenge.
As with most free patterns, there are only photos of the finished product and not the steps in-between, so you’ll need to understand how to sew pieces together.
Quick pattern notes for beginners:
ft loops means front loops.
bk loops means back loops.
This patterns use brackets [ instead of parantheses ( as is used in some other patterns, but those mean the same thing.
