How to Crochet a Christmas Gift Card Holder

So you’ve got a person on your present list where a gift card is best, but you want to add a personal touch. You’ve got it: a crochet gift card holder. Specifically, a crochet Christmas Tree gift card holder. It works up real fast so you’ll have that personal touch in no time. Free pattern below:

Difficulty: Beginner

Yarn Used:
Worsted Weight (4) Yarn-
Caron Simply Soft Yarn Kelly Green (Green)
Red Heart Super Saver Metallic White Yarn (White)
I’ve lost track of the brand for the red yarn, but it is worsted.

For the star, I used Super Fine Weight (1) Yarn in yellow.

Hook Size: 4mm

Stitches Used & Glossary:
Ch = Chain
SC = Single Crochet
INC = Increase Stitch
FLO = Front Loop Only
BLO = Back Loop Only
2nd Chain from hook
Ch 1 & Turn

Gift Card Base:

  1. Chain 23.
    Check that this is long enough to fit over your gift card. Add or remove chains as necessary.
  2. Working into the 2nd chain from hook, SC 22 [22].

    Depending on your tension, you may need to remove or add rows to fit your gift card.

    Crochet a single crochet stitch along the edges of the border. Here’s a link to the relevant version of the video:

Border:
Do a single crochet stitch along the border in red yarn (or the border color of your choice).

Christmas Tree:

Christmas Tree – Use color of tree. Do a ch 1 & turn at the end of each row except row 9.
