When I first got into crochet, I bought two books of patterns early on to aspire to once I moved beyond the Woobles. The first I tackled was Unicorns, Dragons, and Fantasy Amigurumi. If you’re just getting started, I recommend the book. It has a lot of cute options with a variety of skill levels. I did the Pegasus, then the Lochness Monster (this one I failed and gave up on), the Goblin, and the Reindeer. You can get the crochet reindeer either from the book, or directly from the designer, Airali Design.
Difficulty: Beginner+. This is a good early project. It also shows you techniques for attaching limbs *without* sewing them on.
Stitched Used: Single Crochet, Increase, Decrease, Chain, Double Crochet, 2-DC-Bobble, Front Loop Only, Slip Stitch
Time Taken: 5-6 hours. I managed to do most of this during a flight.
Pattern vs Reality:
I left off the wings and other coloring out of choice. I made them, but preferred it without. They were a little difficult to make and definitely the most advanced part of the design. If I have time, I might make a whole set with a red-nosed reindeer for the holidays next year!
