Cost of Kit: $35 w/out crochet hook, $40 with crochet hook

In my first review of the Woobles Narhwal, I discussed The Woobles, so head on over there if you want my take on the company’s products. This one is slightly more expensive than other kits because it’s a collaboration with Miffy.

Difficulty: Best for absolute beginners with 0 hours of experience.
Out of the 5 Woobles patterns I did, I think this was actually the easiest of them all. I recommend starting here if you’re a Miffy fan.

The Woobles Miffy pattern is rated as Beginner on their website, and I concur that it’s very beginner friendly.
What You Learn: You’ll learn and practice:

  • The four most fundamental stitches of crochet
  • How to “see” stitches and count them
  • How to read pattern instructions
  • How to “fasten off”
  • How to sew to attach the limbs together
  • How to use safety eyes
  • How to embroider eyes instead, if you want

Stitches Used: Single Crochet, Increase Stitch, (Invisible) Decrease Stitch, Chain
Time Taken: 5 hours
Kid-Friendly: Absolutely. You’ll want to supervise some of the sewing.

Pattern vs Reality:

Embroidery. This is in my opinion the hardest part of amigurumi versus other forms of crochet. You have to pick up some basic embroidery skills too. The Woobles pattern and videos will take you through how to do embroidery.

I embroidered the eyes since this was for an infant. Also, I don’t actually know much about Miffy, and this was a gift for an infant, so I did a different mouth.

However! I changed my mind about where the mouth should go, so you see some small holes there from where I ripped the former mouth out. I recommend using pins to estimate where you want things to go first before you start doing the embroidery.

But otherwise, it turned out great. It was pretty simple and I really recommend this one for absolute beginners.

Amy’s Beginner-Friendly Rating: Absolute beginner. Great first project.
Amy’s Accuracy Rating: Accurate. No mistakes.
Amy’s Pattern Writing Rating: 10/10. Easy to follow; not confusing.
