Hi! I’m Amy and I’m an amigurumi enthusiast. This didn’t come naturally to me at first, so I created this blog to try to help other beginners with information I wish I had when I started.
I first approached crochet by walking down to my local Michael’s, and asking a random nice customer in the yarn section for advice. She picked out a set of cheap hooks for me, and told me how to read the skein label to figure out which hook went with what. Then I sat down at home with some YouTube channels and got bamboozled. I gave up. I tried again several years later after my phone overheard me talking about how I wanted to try again — suddenly ads for the Woobles were popping up on my Facebook feed. I decided to give it a try, and here I am.
I don’t receive any sponsorship for any of the recommendations I make, and I will never recommend any pattern I haven’t personally done or any product I haven’t meaningfully tested.
In terms of my personal life, I think the most important fact about me is that my family watches over these three cuties:
Here’s what my blog has to offer:
- Posts on how to get started, assessment of various hooks I’ve tried, and even a summary of U.S. copyright law as it applies to crochet
- I review the patterns I’ve tried. You’ll also be able to see my skills grow chronologically
- Patterns I’ve designed and are sharing here for free
Coming Soon:
Tapestry of Stories
- A series of stories based on interviews with people from all walks of life on how they got into crochet and how it has become part of, or even changed, their lives. I’m going to be going on my honeymoon in late February, so I intend to start the first post in mid-March so that I can be here and present if any of the people interviewed change there and want any changes made post-release. Afterwards, I aim to release one every 1-2 weeks for as long as people will talk to me.
